An eastern Missouri developer plans to donate a tract of land for a new state park as large as New York City's Central Park.
Don Robinson of Cedar Hill is pledging 843 acres southwest of Eureka, plus a trust fund to help pay for park maintenance after he dies.
The park site is dotted with sandstone canyons, cliffs, forests and the upper watershed of a stream with 36 fish species. The property also has 328 plant species, including a type of pine typically found farther south in Missouri.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources announced the planned donation Thursday.
Robinson started buying land in Jefferson County in 1964. He produced and marketed a cleaning product and developed subdivisions. |
