I'm sure everyone knows by now about the shootings at the recent Kirkwood City Council meeting. The alledged shooter had many problems with the council over the recent years, and decided unfortunately to take out his frustrations on those who he believed affected him the most. So we might as well ask. What is being done at Arnold City Hall to prevent the same from happening? Are Arnold police stationed at the meetings, and are they prepared for this sort of surprise? And along those same lines - Does this unfortunate event open the eyes of our council members to realize that they are affecting lives simply by their (sometimes rash) decisions? There is a discussion about the Kirkwood shooting in the forum. |

The Steak n Shake at Arnold Crossroads is no more. Crews have finally demolished the building this week.
Originally the company said that they would be tearing the building down by the end of 2007, yet it remained open until the end of January 2008. The McDonald's near the same location was originally slated to be down before 2008 as well, but they are still open. Near the end of January, the building was only serving drive-thru customers because of a water main break. They closed the lobby to guests. A new Steak n Shake is going to be built on the same property (and hopefully their drive-thru is a little easier to navigate!). |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but the sign out along the highway that announces the "days until opening" changed dramatically this week. On Monday. the sign, which counts down the days until the new Dierbergs grand opening, had a number around the 120 mark. On Tuesday however, the sign magically changed to 88 days.
So which is true? I called the Dierbergs corporate office and talked to a lady there in HR. She said she was aware that the sign had changed, but said that it shouldn't have done so. But then she added "we're still opening in May". So now I'm confused. 120 days from now puts the opening in the first or so week of June. 88 days from now would put it around the beginning of May, as she said. |

The launch of the new Arnold Election site has seen a nice welcome to the community. The traffic is steady, and people are finding out more about the candidates they may be voting on. Brinnon Morrison and Matt Hay (both newcomers) have already filed their interview questions . They are eager to help the community, they are already active and pressing towards their goal. Both of these gentlemen read the forums here at AT, and are willing to answer any questions their voters may have. The same, however, can't be said for the incumbents... |
