Bill Brengle, assistant principal at Fox High School, gave a "hip" presentation during the 14th Annual Character Education Conference this month.

The national conference in downtown St. Louis, sponsored by the Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis Inc., featured Brengle as one of several speakers.

Through his presentation, Brengle demonstrated how a team of teachers, staff and students from Fox High School confront bullying with staff awareness, self-examination and unity on the subject, advertising, student surveys and student leadership.The group calls itself HIP, focusing on honor, integrity and pride to contrast humiliation, intimidation and the imbalance of power that characterizes bullying.

The Reenactor Entertainment Convention (ReCon) is coming to the High Ridge branch of the Jefferson County Library.  The convention is a free annual event catering to fans of Reenactor Entertainment games.

The convention's website does not appear to be complete, but I did find some other information here .

Bobby Lombard got both the surprise and thrill of his life Monday night.The Jefferson County Blazer second baseman was named the Most Valuable Player of the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association at its postseason banquet at the Orlando Gardens in south St. Louis County.

That was a memorable moment of its own.

"It was a surprise," said Lombard, who was one of the key cogs on a team which set a record by crossing the finish line in the regular season with a 20-1 mark against SLABA opponents. "My goal coming into the season was just to make the all-star team."

Interstate 55 was shut down Friday evening south of Festus at Highway 61 because of reports of gunfire nearby.

Missouri Highway Patrol Sergeant Al Nothum said both southbound and northbound lanes of I-55 were closed for safety.
