De Soto resident Greg Kozlowski is ecstatic there will be some public transportation in Jefferson County.

Kozlowski, who is blind and disabled, either has to depend on friends or the generosity of strangers to catch a ride.

"If I want to go to the grocery store, I walk three blocks down to Boyd Street and stick out my thumb," he said.Jefferson County Community Partnership coordinator Dennis Murphy said the Transportation Solutions Committee (TSC) recently procured a $50,000 federal grant through the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). The grant will allow the committee to buy a bus, which he said will be ordered in November.
