More than half of Missouri's counties are included in the expanded antler-point restriction regulations for the 2008 deer hunting seasons, but Jefferson County is not one of them.The decision on the antler-point restrictions and on what areas are included - and not included - in the new regulations were announced in late April by the Conservation Commission.
Jefferson, St. Louis, and St. Charles counties are considered urban counties, and hunter success data from the four-year pilot program indicated that overall harvest actually declined in the 29-county area. The Department of Conservation does not want to do anything that would have people killing fewer deer in these high density areas.Read the full story
