There was a rumor circulating that there would be a shooting at 1:45 today.  I called the police chief and he said it was "just some kids messaing around".  Well, I thought I'd drive through and check out the campus (around 1:30) and it was silent.  Only one cop, the DARE truck.  Chief Shockey assured me that they had it under control, but I don't think I'll be taking any chances.

Thank God for text messaging and teenagers. 

UPDATE: Obviously there was no shooting, but several parents were a bit freaked out.  My son said there were quite a few cops up at the school earlier today.  He said some kids were joking around about it, it was overheard and another student reported the conversation to a staff member.

Either way, as a parent it was a bit scary to hear.  It's a shame we have to be so on edge about these things, but I'd rather err on the side of caution, I guess.

There was a note sent home from the principal, which I forgot to bring in and scan today. Basically it said the same thing that the police chief said.
