On Saturday, I took the family out for a late breakfast at the new Rise and Dine Diner next to Dierbergs. It was the first time we've been in the Arnold Commons parking lot, and even though it looked like there were several sets of people in the diner, we got a front row spot. The diner was very nice and clean (duh - it's brand new). The girl seated us at a nice 6-seater table in the front. A minute later the waitress was over. We ordered drinks, and had them within a few minutes.
The menu is easy to understand, and has several Rise and Dine favorites, and also a small selection of "YMCA of South County picks", which I'm assuming are probably the healthy choices. The kids menu didn't have a lot of choices, but the good standbys were there, including mac-n-cheese, grilled cheese and chicken fingers. Orders I ordered the tomato and spinach omelet with feta cheese. Omelets come with choice of home-fries, hash browns, grits or a bowl of fruit. I had the fruit. The omelet was about 6 inches round, shaped like a stop sign. It was awesomely delicious, something I'd order again and again. The fruit was all fresh and tasted great. The coffee was good, and the waitress kept it full. My wife ordered the meat lovers omelet. It came with ham, turkey, bacon and sausage. She got hers without turkey. It was similarly shaped, and she loved it. The kids ordered chocolate chip pancakes, another had chicken strips. Our teenager ordered a chicken caesar wrap. His wrap showed up without chicken in it, but upon further questioning, he wasn't sure if he ordered the chicken version. Either way, he was very happy with it. He loved the fries. To summarize, the entire dinner was great. The cost was a little over $40. The assistant manager came by and asked us how everything was. The only complaint/suggestion I have is that they don't open until 6:30 AM. Since I'm at work at 6AM, they'd never see me as a weekday customer. I know the rent can't be cheap there, and I'd be willing to bet they could more than cover the expenses of opening earlier by the amount of customers they'd have early. They did have a sign offering free wifi - something that hit near to my heart. Gotta love that. Looks like I'll be having some client meetings there. After 6:30, of course... Rise and Dine website

While they may seem a little more expensive than Karens was or than Bob Evans you have to consider the huge portions you get.
Like you will I think they might consider opening a little earlier for those people who work early hours. I will say both times we were there we were happy and will go back.
