Here's an email I got today.  Sad vews.

I have some sad news to pass along.  One of our coaches, Anthony West- who with Martie Bax coached our Rockport 5th/6th Grade Girls’ Team- died this week in a car accident.  From what I understand, it looks like he might have had a heart attack or aneurysm.

Mr. West was 29 years old.  His stepdaughter, Katie, plays on the Rockport team.  He and his wife Holly also have a one year old.

With a tragedy like this, obvious unexpected financial costs arise.  I’m not in the business of soliciting people for various causes.  However, this basketball league is near and dear to my heart- as well as all of the coaches and kids who participate in it.  I know firsthand how much energy Mr. West put into both coaching basketball and football.  I felt the least I could do is pass on this information.

In addition, on Saturday December 22nd, we are going to have donation jars set up outside each gym to help out the family in this time of need. 

I’ve talked with Martie and she says the kids want to play this Saturday.  They play at 9 am in Gym 2.  I’ll be rooting for them.
