Beautiful gardens gone 3 Years, 1 Month ago
I'm sure many of you can remember driving down Telegraph from Jeffco in the summer and seeing the beautiful flower and rose gardens in front of the Becker home. Of course the home was also decorated for the holidays.
When Mr. Becker passed his wife said she would try to keep the flower beds up but I guess with the passing of time she was no longer able to do it. I noticed several months ago a For Sale Sign in front of the white home and also one for the home behind it. Later I noticed a request for rezoning. Apparently a developer bought the property and will now build 5 homes on the 5 acres of ground. Of course the Becker home was not really in Arnold but in Jefferson County. The home and gardens were written up in the Journal when Mr. Becker passed.
Then of course at the bottom of Telegraph you had the Maul property with his beautiful tulips in front of his home. They are also now gone.
Of course those of us who have been here for many years can also remember the orchard on Telegraph where you could buy fresh fruit and vegetables. A small building which still stands was built behind the brick home and when you entered you found fruits and vegetables. You picked out what you wanted figured out the price then looking at the tax chart to figure the tax and dropped your money in the glass dish that sat on the counter. People who shopped there were on their honor to pay for the merchandise. One by one all these things are becoming memories.

Shirley,
I sure do remember the beautiful house with all the millions of flowers in the the yard. I would make special trips over there to see what was growing and how it was fixed up for the holidays..was always lovely. Miss the vegetable and fruit place too, first time I ever laid on the ground and got strawberries..
